What Going On Around Football Playoffs

There’s more to the end of the football season than just the Playoffs

What going on with the nfl

What going on with the nfl

So it begins, just like the frenzy that occurred at the end of the baseball season, NFL coaches, General Managers and players are getting either traded or fired.

There are seven coaches and five general managers that have been fired in a flurry of pink slips that were delivered the day after the regular NFL season ended. Who knows if the bleeding will stop there?

Some of the fired coaches and GMs(General Managers) were let go simple because of a lack-luster season. Owners have to blame it on someone, and when it comes down to firing the coach or trading for a better quarterback, receiver, or kicker, it comes down to what is cost effective. It is a whole lot cheaper and easier to hire a new coach and/or GMs then a whole offense or defense.

Who got the ‘ax’, we will start with the most talked about and that would be Andy Reid, who is the winningest coach in the history of the Philadelphia Eagles. But that didn’t save his job.

Next is Lovie Smith who led the Chicago Bears to the 2007 Super Bowl, but for whatever reason, the Bears did not even make the playoffs this year, so out with the old.

Ken Whisenhunt is out after helping Arizona reach the Super Bowl following the 2008 season.
Also gone: Norv Turner of the San Diego Chargers, who had the reputation of choking when the chips were down, Pat Shurmur of the Cleveland Browns, Romeo Crennel of the Kansas City Chiefs and Chan Gailey of the Buffalo Bills.

There were also three teams that made it a clean sweep, saying goodbye to their GMs along with their coaches; San Diego Charges, Cleveland Browns, and the Arizona Cardinals.

The General Manager from the Jacksonville Jaguars was also fired, but the owner has decided for now to keep their coach.

Coaches sacked in firing frenzy

Nearly all adult viagra pills men tend not to realize that will you shouldn’t have for you to undergo. Mike Tannenbaum is also out as the New York Jets GM, but their coach Rex Ryan is still in; one has to wonder why the owner kept the coach, especially after the quarterback debacle, between Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow and Greg McElroy.

There are several other coaches besides Rex Ryan that have people wondering how they have managed to keep their jobs, Jason Garrett of the Dallas Cowboys being one, Dennis Allen of the Oakland Raiders being another

The dust has not even settled yet from all the firing and Andy Reid has already worked out an agreement with the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs to become their new coach. It all becomes a game of musical chairs at least until the last chair is filled and who will be left standing without a new team.

Even before the rumors start to quiet down on is no longer the coach or GM for what team, when the game of what quarterbacks gets traded from what team to whatever team is willing to take them on.

Such will be the fate of Tim Tebow of the now New York Jets to his new team, rumor has it that it might be the Jacksonville Jaguars. And what of Romo, will he stay a Dallas Cowboy?

Just like the end of the National Baseball League, rumors, gossip and eventually trades and firings, The National Football League will also end the season with rumors, gossip, trades and firings.

We will have to do a ‘wait’ and ‘see’ for whatever happens at the end of the National Basketball season. We are only mid-way through the season and the rumors and gossip are running rampant. The names of several players and coaches are being tossed around as differently between up for a trade.

Such is the careers of Players, Coaches, and GM’s, just like the world of fashions, ‘What’s in today could be out by tomorrow’.

What the Christmas Holiday means to a Sports Fan

Christmas For a sports fan

Besides all the regular Christmas and family items, buy the tree, do the decoration, buying gifts, etc, etc. (and the list does seems endless) there is still sports!

December can be a hectic time of the year in the ‘Sports World’, starting with the baseball trades and this year there has been many surprises and a whole lot of money being spent. Both the Angels and the Dodgers, have spent the Angels getting Josh Hamilton for the outfield, to a five-year, $125 million contract and the Dodgers getting Zack Greinke as a starting starting pitcher with a $147 million, six-year deal And South Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin with a six-year contract worth $36 million and more to come, just to help prepare themselves for next season and a chance to make it to the World Series.

Then there is College Basketball and the attempts by each college team to make it to “March Madness’. Sports fans are starting to take an interest in the top schools, taking a peek at who will be in and who will be out. All this to help them get an edge in preparing their ‘Brackets’. As of today’s date, UCLA and USC are struggling and hopefully they will both make it past the first couple of rounds.

Of course, if you a sports fan? There are also the college bowl games, which started December 15 and will end with the BCS Championship game on January 15 with Norte Dame playing Alabama. Before that big game, however, there is still the December 27 Holiday Bowl with UCLA playing Baylor, the Sun Bowl on December 31 with Georgia Tech playing USC and on January 1, 2013, the famous Rose Bowl game with Wisconsin playing Stanford.
