The trophy go to LA Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks for the baseball brawl of the year.
This is going to be a baseball classic
Here’s a quick video I found on Youtube with the highlights of that brawl on 6/11/13 at the Dodger’s Stadium

Believe it or not, there are acceptable unwritten rules between teams how and when a batter can be hit by a pitcher and the Arizona Diamondbacks broke that rule.
A lot of noise is being made by baseball team owners, the fans, the players and even the sports announcer regarding the increase in ‘bad calls’ by the officials or Umpire
It’s a baseball classic problem and always has been.
Why do you think ‘Kill the Umpire’ was a favorite saying way back when, before it became ‘politely incorrect’.
We have come to accept them as such. As fans, we holler and boo the umpires whenever it happens to our team and when our player and manager get throw out of the game for protesting the call, we cheer them on.
Team managers and players hint at the bad calls when questioned, but know better than to actually discuss it with the media do to possible fines and suspension by the MLB. So, nothing has really changed it’s just a baseball classic
It is a part of baseball and has been part of the game for the 160+ years that baseball has been professional played.
Umpires have always had the last word that is until recently. With Social Media comes a more intense scrutinizing of their actions. This has led to many of their so called ‘blow calls’ being questioned and why the call for change!

The worse seem to come when not only are the umpires blowing calls now and then, but they don’t even seem to know the rules of the game. The May 09, 2013 Angel Game, the Umpires allowed an illegal switch of pitchers.
The list goes on and on it seems that not a day goes by without another ‘bad call making the headlines. There is arguments on all sides, Umpires, MLB, and Team Owners that something must be done. Do Umpires need to pay more, but does more money equal smarter umpires? Do we need instance re-play extended for more than to double check if a home run is indeed a home run? Do Umpires need more education?
Maybe, but even with all the above, it still might not be enough. As our technology gets better and better, sports announcer, fans at home watching their HD TV sets and with the use of slow motion and zoom capabilities, Umpires will always be the underdogs and will sometimes get the play wrong.
It happens in every aspect of life ‘What goes up comes down’ ‘In today –Out Tomorrow’ and it is really apparent when the ‘Passing of the Torch’ happens in the world of sports.

Now we get to the biggest ‘pasting of the torch’ that has occurred in recent sports history, and that my fellow sports fan is what has happened to the Lakers.
The mighty have fallen, so to speak, many claim that the team is just old and need new and younger players, but who knows?
However, whatever the reasons, The Clippers, which has always been ‘the other team’, the bride-maid, never the bride, the team that late night comedians poked fun at, have de-throned the Lakers this year. Have stepped into the lime-light. Clippers
The Clippers weren’t always the Los Angeles Clippers, in fact, from 1970 to 1978 they were known as the Buffalo Braves. Then in 1978 the team moved to San Diego and changed their name to the Clippers. Clipper History
In the team’s first season in San Diego, it posted a record of 43–39 under new head coach Gene Shue, leaving them two wins shy of the final playoff spot. It would be the Clippers’ last winning season for 13 years. Gupta, who is a trusted sexologist in Delhi, who can give you effective and safe viagra india treatments. The 1981–82 season brought changes to the franchise as Irv Levin sold the team to Los Angeles-area real estate developer and attorney Donald Sterling for US $12.5 million. The Clippers’ poor play in the final years in San Diego resulted in averaging only 4,500 fans a game. Sterling lobbied the NBA to relocate the team to his native Los Angeles. Which they did in 1984, and once again changing their name to ‘The Los Angeles Clippers. They played their home games at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.
It wasn’t until 1992 when they added several players and a new the coach that the franchise had its first winning season in 13 years.
But, once again the Clippers were on the move, only this time is was a short hop from LA County to Orange County and from 1994 to 1998, the Clippers called the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, their home, sharing the venue with the NHL’s Mighty Anaheim Ducks.
However, in 1999, the Clippers joined the Lakers and Los Angeles Kings in the new Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles. This final movie did improve their fan attendance, but it also placed them face to face with fighting the highly-popular Lakers for the LA fan base and the Clippers, with relatively low success, have always being overshadowed by the Lakers until this year.
Congrats to the Los Angeles Clippers for finally winning their division.
As I explained in my other blog posting, March Madness is all about men college basketball.
Especially the NIT and the NCAA tournaments.
Where hours are spend agonizing over what schools to pick, do we go for the long shot or pick the favorites.
Some fans will use the school mascots as the deciding factor. What school’s mascot will win over the other school’s mascots? There are still others that will simply flip a coin.
It all comes down to only 68 teams competing over a matter of just a few weeks starting in March, hence the term ‘March Madness’ and it doesn’t end until there is just one team left standing.
The winning college teams enter the NCAA tournament; the college teams that are the runners up enter the NIT tournament as their consolation prize. But it’s the NCAA tournament that will have people glued to their TV, radios and their computers.
ESPN even started a place where people could sign up and tract their brackets. Well over 3 million people signed on to ESPN’s March Madness to select their teams and filled out their brackets, with millions doing it with small and large groups. It just fun.
If you are not a basketball fan it would be hard for you to imagine what all the fuss is about.
I joined in on the fun and picked most of the favorites to win and before the end of the tournament even got close, most of my brackets were a complete bust. However, while it lasted I was glued to the TV, watching and holding my breath as my teams either won or lost, enjoying every minute of it.
It wasn’t always like this, long before the idea of March Madness, there was still college basketball. I can remember watching college basketball long before the notion of bracketing was even born. We all know that Baseball is still listed as ‘The Great American Past Time’. But with the invention of the brackets, college basketball might be the new great American past time at least during March Madness.

Besides all the regular Christmas and family items, buy the tree, do the decoration, buying gifts, etc, etc. (and the list does seems endless) there is still sports!
December can be a hectic time of the year in the ‘Sports World’, starting with the baseball trades and this year there has been many surprises and a whole lot of money being spent. Both the Angels and the Dodgers, have spent the Angels getting Josh Hamilton for the outfield, to a five-year, $125 million contract and the Dodgers getting Zack Greinke as a starting starting pitcher with a $147 million, six-year deal And South Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin with a six-year contract worth $36 million and more to come, just to help prepare themselves for next season and a chance to make it to the World Series.
Then there is College Basketball and the attempts by each college team to make it to “March Madness’. Sports fans are starting to take an interest in the top schools, taking a peek at who will be in and who will be out. All this to help them get an edge in preparing their ‘Brackets’. As of today’s date, UCLA and USC are struggling and hopefully they will both make it past the first couple of rounds.
Of course, if you a sports fan? There are also the college bowl games, which started December 15 and will end with the BCS Championship game on January 15 with Norte Dame playing Alabama. Before that big game, however, there is still the December 27 Holiday Bowl with UCLA playing Baylor, the Sun Bowl on December 31 with Georgia Tech playing USC and on January 1, 2013, the famous Rose Bowl game with Wisconsin playing Stanford.

Oh, a word to the wise, while you are at that holiday function anywhere near LA, you may not want to bring up the Lakers, that is unless you are a Clipper fan!
Happy Holidays from the Sports4Dummies.com and good luck to your favorite team.
No matter what the sport is, no matter what team you root for, no matter what the talent, it all comes down to coaching.
It can start as early as Little League, Pop-Warner or even the one-on-one coaches, it all the same, bad talent has a better chance of winning with a good coach, than a great team winning with a bad coach.
Case in point, this year alone, you have The Oakland Raiders, The Detroit Lions, The Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs and The San Diego Charges all having losing records despite having some of the best talent in the NFL, National Football League. Who will continue coaching and who gets the axe? Already there is speculation of the San Diego Charges firing its head coach and the general manager as well as the Eagles dumping their QB and the coach. Don’t even get me started on what’s going on with the New York Jets.
Would the New England Patriots be as good as they are without Coach Belichick? Or would the New Orleans Saints, who alleged bounty they set on other player, which was under investigation and cause suspension of several New Orleans players and head coach, Sean Payton,Video goes into more details, be having the trouble winning this season if their coach had not been suspended for the whole season?
When the NFL season ends, will it also play the game of musical chairs with its coaches? Just like the end of the MLB season, when several teams traded not only their players, but several of their coach and coaching staff, it is anyone guess.
College football doesn’t escape the problems that come from their coaching staff either. Would USC,Southern California College, have the season it had if they just had a better coach? How about Bret Bielema leaving Wisconsin for another coaching job at Arkansas right before their Bowl Game? Does that give the edge to Stanford, who will be playing the Badgers in the Rose Bowl?
We all know about the chaos that was caused with the hiring of the wrong coach by the Florida Marlins, the MLB, Major League Baseball, team. The coach/manager of the Marlins almost caused an international incident. Video explains the incident

The Boston Red Socks this past year. Wow, they had problems with their own players complaining about their coach, or should I say the lack of one.
The Los Angeles Lakers keeps making the headlines and for the wrong reasons, not for winning, but for losing. They have some of the best talent in basketball and have already fired one coach, but according to news sources, they replaced one bad fit with another. And even though both coaches are supposed to be really good at their jobs, seeing is believing, and it is not working. It is anyone guess as to how long this new coach will last.
Or how about Tiger Woods, his coach Haney resigns as Woods’ swing coach in 2010 and Tiger getting rid of Steve Williams his caddy in 2011.
It is all about the coaching, whether it be the head guy, or just the caddy, someone has to take the blame. And sometimes it is really the coaches fault, call it bad timing, poor execution, whatever, bad coaching it bad coaching.
When you watch whatever sport you are a fan of and your team is losing due to bad plays. The batter bunting the ball instead of trying to hit a home run which leads to a double play, game over, you the fan naturally get upset, what in the world was that coach/manager thinking?????
Or perhaps it should have been a quarterback sneak to gain that First down when looking at third and short instead of that pass that everyone on ‘the planet’ is anticipating and fails.
As I mentioned before, a bad team can win with a good coach, however, a good team can also lose with a bad coach! It is all in the Coaching staff !!
LA Dodgers, a team where bottom seem to be the only way the team was going to be number one at anything. They play like the game of baseball is like a Saturday outing at the park, you know, play a few innings, go in grab a beer , talk to the guys on the bench and when your turn to bat comes up the only thing you want to do is hit the ball as quickly as possible so you can get back to the bench and back to your conversation you were having with your team mates.
I don’t really know what to say, except that the term sucks. This is not the LA Dodgers I grew up with, the team that I would skip out of school to go see and when the player’s had heart. When playing the game meant more than just the pay check. When the owner had pride in owning the team.
Now you have the McCourt’s, the blood-sucking owners of the team, that can’t see anything but the bottom line. They raise the prices on everything and lower the quality of the team by cutting anyone that they were going to have to pay more for.
Have you seen the number of ‘triple A’ players that are coming in and then being sent back before they have to pay them any more than they are making at the ‘triple A’ level.
