Are you ready for the 2016 baseball season?

Pre-season games started in March and although the games don’t count and supposedly no one care if they win or lose. The true is that it does count, not as wins or loses, but for the players try to earn a spot on the team’s roster.

It is the one time that everyone gets to play, not only the ‘old timers’ the ones that have already earned a spot on the team, but for all the new prospects as well. It is the one chance that a rookie has to show what he can do for the team. The one chance for the new prospects to impress the manager and the coaches, Let them know that ‘I can play this game, I am ready’!’

However, if that new prospect, and this year there are some really good ones, fail to impress, they are usually sent back to the ‘minors’. Of course this isn’t the end of their chances to make the team for 2016, but a minor set-back for them. They can be traded to another team’s minor division or better yet get call back to the majors as a replacement for someone that gets hurt or just to shake up the team, add a little new chemistry to the team.

Officially The Dodger season started Monday April 4, 2016, against the San Diego Padres, with Kershaw pitching of course. At last year’s opening game against the San Diego Padres, the dodgers won and if over 53,000 fans in attendance.

During the pre-season the Dodgers looked good, they still had a few rough edges to work out and several of the new pitchers looked really good, however some did not. Hopefully as the season continues the new guys will improve and learn the routine of the team. Last season the LA Angels had a fair season, but ended up in third place in the AL West Division, not their best. It could be said that the Angels ending up in third place was due to a massive amount of injuries sustained during last year’s season. However, the question has to asked, if all those injuries could have been avoided if the team had a deeper and more talented farm system, or perhaps the injuries were due to current players that are close to retiring from the game of baseball. But for whatever the reasons are for the team not making the playoffs, the fans need to see changes for 2016.

The Angels opening day at their home field with be Monday April 11, 2016 with the Angels versus the Oakland A’s. Last year not only did the Angels lose the opening game against the Seattle Mariners with Jeff Weaver pitching, but also lost the opening game at the Angel Stadium against the Kansas City Royals.
